10 March 2010 - Gates announces the end of their Ford Scrappage scheme

22 October 2009 - As announced by Lord Mandelson, the Scrappage Scheme has been extended. The £2,000 allowance will now include cars registered on or before 29 February 2000 (V registration or before) and vans registered on or before 28 February 2002 (Y registration or 51 plate or older). The Government has also released additional funds, so the scheme is available to a further 100,000 applicants.

Wednesday 22 April 2009 - In the Budget Chancellor Alistair Darling announced the introduction of a Government Scrappage Scheme, a £2,000 allowance on vehicles aged 10 years or over.

In exchange for scrapping your old vehicle and buying a new one the Government and Gates Group will contribute a total of £2,000 towards the purchase of a new vehicle

• The scheme starts on May 18th 2009
• The scheme is open to cars or commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes
• To be eligible, the vehicle you scrap must have been first registered on or prior to 31st August 1999
• The owner must have been the registered keeper of the old vehicle for at least 1 year and the vehicle must have an up to date MOT
• The scheme will be available to the first 300,000 eligible claimants or until 28th Feb 2010, whichever is sooner
• Gates Group Dealers will take care of everything for you, including claiming the incentive on your behalf and arranging scrapping of the vehicle
