Ford's B-Max makes driving easier for family motorists, even before you set off on your journeys. Its clever design allows easy access to the spacious cabin, and on the road the model transports you confidently and without compromising on economy.
This capable MPV is also pleasing to look at, as it follows Ford's latest design signature. A wide front grille adorns the nose between vibrant headlamps, and the neat folds seen on the edge of the bonnet continue down each wing to give the illusion of constant forward motion. Stylish alloy wheels are a feature of all but the entry level model, and in total you have a choice of 11 stunning paint finishes.
Fitting a child seat and settling into the rear is straightforward, thanks to a large sliding side door, and the removable B-pillar gives a one-and-a-half metre gap to work with. The model holds five, and its flexible seating arrangement allows you to adjust the rear bench and front passenger seat to expand the total luggage capacity. This high functionality is enjoyed with masses of style, and you have a choice of cloth or partial leather seats in a range of patterns. This joins soft-touch matt and gloss mouldings across the doors and dash which add a welcome touch of elegance.
With five engines available, you can ensure the B-Max delivers performance to suit your driving style. It's available with Ford's revolutionary 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine producing either 99bhp or 123bhp, and the higher powered example includes their start/stop system. The result is CO2 emissions from just 114g/km alongside combined economy up to 57.7mpg. Two other petrols include the 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre Duratec, while diesel alternatives comprise the 1.5-litre and 1.6-litre Duratorq. The larger diesel gives 94bhp and is the most efficient in the line-up with combined economy of 70.6mpg, as well as CO2 emissions of 104g/km.
Across the B-Max range, four trim grades are also presented in Studio, Zetec, Titanium and Titanium X. Entry-level Studio equips the model with a CD/DAB radio player, external AUX input and remote audio controls, and you can add a 3.5-inch display plus Ford SYNC and hands-free Bluetooth as an option. Zetec models get this more advanced audio system as standard, and they also include manual air conditioning plus a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gearshift knob. Titanium and Titanium X boast luxurious velour floor mats plus a larger TFT display, and like the Zetec grade there's the option for integrated sat nav.
