The Ford Transit Minibus is a sizeable and versatile vehicle that is perfect for schools, social groups and businesses. This capacious MPV can transport as many as 18 people, and is available in Base and Trend trim levels.
The smart-looking six-door Transit Minibus would grace any kind of organisation. It comes in a choice of Frozen White, Race Red or Blazer Blue colours, each available at no extra cost, while further optional paint finishes include Moondust Silver and Shadow Black.
The Transit features a number of useful standard fixtures too, such as blind-spot-eliminating door mirrors; each fitted with integrated indicator lights. (With Trend grades, these are also power-operated, foldable and heated.) Tinted glass is also included with each model, helping to significantly reduce the amount of heat that would otherwise reach the vehicle’s interior.
Each variant also features high-beam headlights, which automatically adapt to the presence of oncoming vehicles by dipping accordingly.
The Transit Minibus is available in a combination of four lengths (L) and heights (H). L2 H2 iterations come with 11 or 12 seats; L3 H2/H3 feature 14 or 15 positions and L4 H3 models include 17 or 18 seats. The front compartment features a dual-passenger seat, the driver’s side of which can be folded down to provide a useful table, to position, for example, a laptop. All but H3 models feature overhead compartments for the easy stowage of personal items such as bags and coats. Trend grades (and optional with Base trims) include a separate rear-compartment air conditioning system, offering customisable heat settings for each row.
A 2.2-litre diesel engine is fitted as standard, attached to a six-speed manual gearbox. This produces 123bhp, and returns as much as 38.2mpg and a 192g/km CO2 emission figure. A 153bhp unit is also available.
All Transit variants feature a four-speaker sound system (with AM/FM radio and CD player), which can be operated safely and simply thanks to steering-wheel mounted controls. Bluetooth connectivity and USB and AUX inputs are included too.
A range of safety elements are featured as standard, such as Driver Alert which analyses driving behaviour and, if concentration levels start to wane, illuminates a warning icon. If alertness diminishes further, a chiming sound is also emitted. Electronic Stability Control and Lane Keeping Alert are provided too, as are ISOFIX child-seat anchor points, which are fitted in the vehicle’s second row.
