Introducing the next-generation Ford Fiesta

Ford currently dominates the UK’s best-selling car chart, with the Focus taking second place to the runaway leader – the Fiesta.

This popular and highly acclaimed supermini has been gracing our roads for more than four decades and is just about to enter its seventh incarnation.

Due for release this summer, the next-generation Fiesta is back, bigger and better than ever, and that’s despite the current (sixth-generation) model continuing to out-sell the competition.

The all-new Fiesta is available in Style, Zetec, Titanium, Titanium X and Vignale trim levels, as well as three- and five-door body styles.

Standard features include body-coloured fixtures such as bumpers, and lightweight and stylish 15-inch alloy wheels. Inside, all next-generation models come with, among other things, an FM/AM radio sound system and Bluetooth connectivity. A range of safety features, such as automatic headlights, Hill-start Assist and Lane-keep Assist are standard inclusions too.

The seventh-generation Fiesta is 12mm wider and 71mm longer than before. A larger size, in conjunction with slimmed-down front seats, has resulted in more cabin space than ever, for both front- and rear-row travellers. Luggage volume hasn’t been confirmed yet but it is likely to be around the 290-litre mark (with all seats in place). This minimum-capacity space will be easier to access, thanks to a wider aperture provided by the vehicle’s increased girth.

Six engine options include a

fitted-as-standard 1.0-litre 99bhp petrol unit, which is available with 123bhp or

138bhp power outputs. Paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, this is expected

to produce CO2 emissions as low as 95g/km. Each engine comes with a fuel-saving

Stop/Start system too.

There’s more: the new Fiesta ST is the vehicle’s performance iteration, featuring among other things, 17-inch alloys and sports seats and pedals. The ST is powered by a 197bhp engine, while a 1.5-litre 118bhp diesel is available too, which will likely produce emissions as low as 82g/km.
