There are few cars as recognisable as Ford's Fiesta, as the compact hatchback has become a firm favourite in the vehicle segment. The newest version arrives with the manufacturer's latest styling approach applied, giving it a sleek sports appeal that always attracts admirers. What's more, the car also delivers where it matters with responsive and economical performance.
The Fiesta has an energetic look even when stationary, as its fluid
build includes sweeping headlamps, creases along each flank and a
smoothly curving roofline. The large upper grille gets a classy chrome
surround, and models fitted with front fog lights get the same welcome
detail. The halogen projector lights include daytime running lights to
impress day and night, and the body-coloured mirrors hold integrated
indicators for greater visibility. A superb 13-strong selection of paint
finishes is available, and you can also specify one of four alloy wheel
designs with select models.
Inside, the cabin has a luxurious feel no matter which trim grade you opt for, as classic Ford craftsmanship has been applied to every surface. Gloss and matt inlays sit side by side, and every surface feels robust to the touch. There are subtle details such as the aluminium pedals and leather covered handbrake, and this environment can also be styled as you wish with partial or full leather seats.
Alongside the customisation choices, you have three engine options comprising one petrol and two diesels. The sole petrol is Ford's refined 1.0-litre EcoBoost unit, which delivers the same power you would expect from a larger engine. Available with 79bhp, 99bhp or 123bhp, it releases CO2 emissions from just 99g/km, with combined fuel economy up to 65.7mpg possible. The 74bhp 1.5-litre TDCi is joined by a larger 1.6-litre 94bhp TDCi, and it boasts a class-leading 85.6mpg plus CO2 emissions at just 87g/km. Auto start/stop system and smooth manual or automatic gearboxes contribute to the Fiesta's excellent economy.
The Fiesta's six trim grades equip the line-up superbly, and from the
entry-level Studio you get an audio system with multifunction display,
AUX and USB connection and a 12 volt accessory socket. Style adds MyKey
and air conditioning, while Zetec and Zetec S give Ford Sync with
Emergency Assistance and the latter includes sports style front seats. Titanium sits above Zetec S with a DAB digital radio and cruise control, and the top-end Titanium X features heated seats and a rear view camera.
