The Transit mHEV has an electric motor that can assist its 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine as you drive, particularly during acceleration, helping to improve efficiency and reduce emissions. There is no requirement to connect the battery to a power source, as charging takes place through regenerative braking. This recycles kinetic energy that would otherwise be lost during deceleration, storing it in the battery until it’s needed.
Unlike traditional hybrid models, the Transit mHEV doesn’t have the capacity to run on an electric charge alone; rather, the motor is there to provide a boost when needed and ensure a reduced carbon footprint. At low speeds or when the vehicle is stationary, however, the combustion engine can turn itself off and be restarted by the 48V starter-generator.
The new Ford Transit mHEV provides several benefits for businesses. Aside from being a smart interim step between using conventional combustion engines and moving to full or plug-in hybrid power, it offers an average fuel consumption saving of up to 3%, with benefits of up to 8% in urban environments. In addition, you’ll enjoy an improved torque response, meaning swifter acceleration even with a full load.
Of course, the vehicle will retain its other assets too – assets that have cemented its popularity with commercial users over the years. Not only will drivers enjoy a comfortable and composed on-road experience, as well as impressive load space, they can count on the van to provide the latest technologies too.
With features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, parking sensors and Load Adaptive Control, there’s plenty to support every journey. And thanks to clever stowage spaces and innovations that improve connectivity, the van becomes a mobile office designed to make every aspect of the job easier.
