Since the race began in 1982, it has gone from strength to strength now attracting in excess of 15,000 participants. In addition to the Half Marathon, of which there are running, walking and wheelchair options, there is also a 5K race and a 1.5 mile fun run. Because it is so accessible to everyone, it’s no wonder that the crowds gather here year in year out. The Half Marathon itself provides a scenic yet undulating half marathon route, through the country lanes of St Albans - ideal for those looking to challenge themselves!
Gates of St Albans, located on Ashley Road, have been the local FordStore and specialist Transit Centre since 2016. They have been keen supporters of the St Albans Half Marathon ever since and are proud to be involved once again in 2024. The event aims to raise money for local charities and organisations and as a family owned and operated local business, Gates understand the importance of supporting local community events such as this.
On race day, our events team will be in the Runner's Village so be sure to come along, say hello and take a look at some of the New Ford Cars and Vans that will be on display. There will be a range of Hybrid & Electric vehicles on show including the stunning All-Electric Mustang Mach-E, Ford's first All-Electric Van, the Ford E-Transit, and the New Ford Kuga which has only recently arrived in our showrooms. What’s more, Gates will also be right behind all of those amazing participants – quite literally as we once again provide the official tail car for 2024, as has been tradition since our sponsorship began.
We were delighted to recently welcome James Shipley, from Active Training World - the team behind the St Albans Half Marathon Event - to the dealership in St Albans where he met with some of the team from Gates of St Albans, many of whom will be taking part come event day!
We wish our fabulous Gates team all the very best of luck!
