On Thursday 17th August 2023, over 400 bricklayers from across the country gathered at Hertford Regional College’s construction centre in Turnford, near Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. Not only did the event provide an abundance of industry knowledge, demonstrations and products courtesy of its significant trade fair, but there was also fierce competition amongst seven competitors all aiming to be crowned the fastest bricklayer in the UK!
Gates of Waltham Cross were just one of the local businesses showcasing their products to the many tradespeople who attended on the day. Chris Scotchings, Transit Centre Sales Manager at Gates of Waltham Cross said: “As Transit Centre Specialists serving Hertfordshire, North London and beyond, we were delighted
to have the opportunity to showcase the versatile Ford Commercial Vehicle range to local tradesman” Chris continues “during the Super Trowel event, it was great to talk to so many people about how our Ford Vans and Pick-Ups can benefit businesses of all kinds, particularly those in construction”
On display were two of the best vans on the market for builders: the mid-sized Ford Transit Custom and the Ford Transit Van. Both Vans have recently scooped multiple WhatCar? Van of the Year awards whilst the All-Electric Ford E-Transit won Best Electric Van. It is easy to see why too.
Take the Ford Transit Custom for instance, the best-selling vehicle in the UK in 2021, which is available with two roof heights, two lengths, four weights and multiple engine options and trim levels. With that much versatility, and the fact that load-carrying capacity is one of the best in class, there is certainly a Transit Custom Van on the market for all builder’s requirements!
The Ford Transit Van variant making an appearance at the event was Ford’s first All-Electric Van, the Ford E-Transit. It has a 400-volt battery with 68 kWh of usable power delivering a range of up to 166-196 miles (WLTP test results. 196-mile WLTP Overall Range reflects a combined driving cycle and 166-mile WLTP Extra High range reflects motorway driving)††. Not only is it efficient, but it can also offer up to 15.1 cubic metres of cargo space‡‡. Like it’s mid-sized counterpart, the Ford E-Transit is available with numerous different height and length configurations to suit the needs of your trade. What’s more, there is an option for a Pro Power onboard system too providing up to 2.3 kW to power conversions and equipment while out at work, without the need for a generator.
Visitors to the event also got the opportunity to see the All-New Ford Ranger pick-up from Gates of Waltham Cross Transit Centre - and it definitely got plenty of attention! The Ford Ranger is another pick-up that is popular in the construction industry. Not only does it provide an easily accessible space for loading bulky items such as sand and cement, but it is also a great vehicle for leisure purposes too. The double-cab Wildtrak option on display at Super Trowel 23 would be the perfect companion for both work and play.
