Who can benefit from a Motability car?

Close

It isn’t just the recipient of the mobility grant that can make use of a vehicle through the Motability Scheme. Up to two named drivers can be added to the lease, and they can include family, friends, carers, or anyone else you trust. A third driver can also be added at an extra cost.

The person the vehicle has been leased for does not need to be in the car for a named driver to use it. This means that you or the person you care for can stay at home while errands are made. All named drivers will need to sign a Statement of Responsibilities before the car is delivered to make sure they understand the terms of the agreement and are aware of misuse.
