Ford’s engine and model success continued into 2015. In June the small but significant 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine won its eighth award in four years as it became 2015 International Engine of the Year. The unit was favoured by the majority of the 87 automotive journalists from 35 countries that judged the awards.
A month later it was the turn of the large Transit panel van to be in the spotlight. Auto Express named it Van of the Year for a third consecutive year, five decades after the first rolled off the production line. Over eight million Transit vans have been built to date, with the range incorporating a model type for virtually any business.
