What is the Motability Scheme?

The Motability Scheme is a government-backed initiative designed to help those with a disability stay mobile and maintain their independence. The Motability Scheme is an all-inclusive package.

Every three-year car lease includes:

• Insurance for up to three drivers
• Servicing and maintenance
• Full breakdown cover
• Tyre repair and replacement
• A home chargepoint and standard installation when you choose an electric vehicle on the Motability Scheme, or access to the bp pulse network

Following UK Government tax changes, updates are being introduced to ensure the Motability Scheme remains sustainable long term. From 1 July 2026 the lease will include:

• Mileage allowance: 30,000 miles over a three-year lease
• Tyre replacement: up to six tyres during a three-year lease (including up to four due to damage)
• EU breakdown: customers will need to pay an admin fee for a VE103 certificate and inform the RAC when travelling outside the UK
