Your safety on the road – and that of others – is of paramount importance. For this reason, keeping up with your annual MOT is a legal requirement, once your vehicle is over three years of age. Here at Gates Ford, we’re here to ensure your car remains roadworthy through our comprehensive inspections.
All of our dealerships are certified MOT test centres, staffed by manufacturer-trained technicians with unrivalled knowledge of the Ford vehicle line-up. As such, we are qualified to ensure your car meets all the necessary safety requirements. Our testers have completed training courses with the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), and their performance is regularly checked, so you can have total confidence in their findings.
The MOT test covers a range of features and systems, including the lights, brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, seatbelts, exhaust, fuel system, emissions and more. In the event your vehicle fails in an area, we will either make the repair and retest on-site (after informing you and obtaining permission to proceed) or make an appointment to carry out the repair and retest at a later date. Please note that if your vehicle fails its test, you cannot legally drive it, except to travel to the test centre for its retest.
MOT’s can be carried out while you wait so whilst you are at our dealerships, you can enjoy free Wi-Fi access and complimentary refreshments. The average MOT takes approximately an hour to complete, so you can be back on the road promptly.
Help your vehicle to pass
A few quick checks before bringing your vehicle to us can help to ensure it passes its MOT. Spend a few minutes checking your lights, wiper blades, horn and tyres are all working and/or in good condition and top up the screen wash and oil before your test. This will help you avoid the delay of a retest.
